Data breaches, Privacy and GDPR are all over in newspapers and social media, but do we really know what all is about?

 rsz introduction

Liane ELBERTSEN - PMI Luxembourg Chapter President

Our organisations, projects and even our day-by-day business lives will be affected, the day after May 25, when the new EU General Data Protection Regulation will be effective.

Kris TROUKENS, Partner at GeDaPRe.eu, presented to the PMI Luxembourg Chapter members, who were present at AgilePartners premises, an insightful session to understand the real impacts of this new regulation.

From the false feeling of being in control of personal data - including our own - to the increase of cybercrime, several new rights will become our new reality. The right to be informed, to be able to access our data stored and to rectify them, are just a few of our customers (and own) civil rights that will need proper procedures, supportive systems, personnel training and communication in place.

With interesting and practical examples, and many questions from a very engaged audience, Kris explained six steps to approach the changes in our organisations or projects, in order to achieve compliancy: (1) create awareness, (2) create a GDPR register, (3) communicate to your customers, (4) perform risk analysis, (5) keep in mind the new procedures that will need to be performed, and last but not least (6) check your contracts to be sure they include all information needed.

PMI Luxembourg Chapter president Liane ELBERTSEN and vice president Karl-Heinz ROSSLER hosted the event, followed by the usual networking cocktail.
